Fiona G. McLean, CD, QCFiona is a skilled, senior lawyer who has been practicing in Calgary for over 25 years. She has represented clients at various Court levels including the Provincial Court of Alberta and the Court of Queen’s Bench. She is firmly committed to providing a direct, no-nonsense approach to resolving her client’s concerns and disputes, whether through alternative dispute resolution options such as mediation, the Court process, or both; but all within an atmosphere of respect and consideration of the most cost-effective resolution possible. Practicing primarily in the area of family law, she formed McLean Legal with the aim of providing a range of professional and competent legal services to clients regardless of background or economic status. She believes everyone has an entitlement to competent representation and, as such, is a regular supporter and contributor to the Legal Aid Society of Alberta. Fiona is honoured to have been appointed a Queen’s Counsel for the Province of Alberta as of March 31, 2020. In the community, Fiona volunteers her time as a director of the Military Family Resource Centre (MFRC) Calgary, which provides programs and supports to military families, and Valour Canada, which connects Canadians with their military heritage. She is also a past director of the Order of St. Lazarus (Calgary) whose mission is to raise funds for palliative care and the eradication of leprosy. She was a decorated officer of the Canadian Forces Reserves from 1987 to 2019 and volunteered overseas as a peacekeeper with NATO and the European Union in Bosnia-Herzegovina in the field of civil-military cooperation and as adjutant of the National Support Element. In Canada, she had the honour of serving as a volunteer aide-de-camp to three Lieutenant-Governors, from 1999 to 2010 and 2017 to 2019.

Lisa D’Haese, Associate
Lisa aims to provide quality and timely legal services with a focus on real estate (both residential and commercial), commercial financing, corporate/commercial law, and wills and estates.
Prior to joining McLean Legal, Lisa worked at a boutique law firm that focused on small business and corporate/commercial law where she was involved with helping small business owners as well as assisting in several multi-million dollar transactions. Before entering law, Lisa gained extensive knowledge in the real estate industry where she worked for a real estate firm and with builders in a sales and customer service capacity.
Lisa has worked in various roles in the real estate industry. She continues to provide quality residential services to clients including sales, purchases, mortgage refinances and title transfers as well as reviewing and drafting of purchase contracts.
In her corporate commercial practice Lisa assists clients with general corporate matters including, incorporating companies (getting your business started), minute book reviews, corporate acquisitions and dispositions (buying or selling a business), including purchase and sale of shares and purchase and sale of assets, corporate restructuring, review of commercial leases (leasing or buying commercial space), drafting of corporate resolutions, drafting of shareholder and partnership agreements, and financing or raising money,
Lisa understands that estate planning is important for adults in all stages of life. She is able to assist in preparing simple and more complex estate plans which can include Wills, Personal Health Directives, and Power of Attorneys (both general and springing).
Lisa acquired her Juris Doctor from Thompson Rivers University Faculty of Law in Kamloops, British Columbia where she was part of the inaugural class. Prior to law school, Lisa received a Bachelor in Criminal Justice with Honours from Mount Royal University here in Calgary, Alberta. She has been admitted as a member of the Alberta Law Society since 2015.
John J. Lee, Associate
John strives to provide excellent and timely legal advice and brings a diverse breadth of practice experience to McLean Legal. Prior to joining McLean Legal, he gained legal experience with a boutique family firm as well as a full-service litigation firm in Calgary. He also worked for the legal department of a major global energy company during law school.
John was a founding executive of the Diversity and Law Society at the University of Calgary a recipient of the Lexpert Zenith Award for the Promotion of Diversity and Inclusion in the Legal Profession. He is passionate about the promoting workplace equity and fundamental human rights and reducing discrimination.
John was admitted to the Alberta Bar in 2018 and joined McLean Legal as an associate lawyer in 2020. In addition, he has made appearances before the Court of Queen’s Bench of Alberta and the Provincial Court of Alberta. However, if possible, John strives to promote out of court settlements through alternative dispute resolution mechanisms.
John is concurrently serving as an Officer for the Royal Canadian Navy Reserve at HMCS Tecumseh. Outside of the office, you can find him spending his time perfecting his culinary skills, playing basketball or hiking in the Canadian Rockies.
